WEEK 3 TRIAL
POPULATION: 25
Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.
Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Lust, Pride, Envy and Gluttony patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.
Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.
Lust is at the table and seems to be finishing a topcoat on their nails. Pride is looking down at their claws, sprawled in their chair. Envy is slumped forward on the table... but don't worry, he's not dead this time, he just has his head pillowed on his folded arms. Gluttony is sitting up straight, hands laced together and waiting.
The rest of the Avatars all look at Pride after a moment of silence, and then, vaguely annoyed, Pride says:
What? They know they have nine hours by this point. Don't look at me.
Hello, and welcome to fourth third trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.
Good luck, and have fun!
QUESTIONS
Lust continues to do their nails, occasionally sneaking glances at both Pride and Envy. Pride has pink claws! And a knife, though this one is a blinding white, rather than the dull one they had last time. Envy stays on the opposite end of the table from Pride, still just slouched over onto it. Gluttony remains seated and watching.
If you have questions, or comments, all four of them look up at you.]

She has no real questions, she's just here to smile, wave hello — and then point at Envy.]
Is he going to be okay, or is this something I should worry about in... nine hours or so?

Either way he is carrying some apple juice and a muffin. It is whatever flavor you want because I'm too tired to think. But he gives Lust a little wave and puts it down next to them for whenever they get hungry.
The other Avatars just get friendly nods though. Sorry guys.]

CURFEW REPORTING
Hey! Let's get talking? We don't know where to investigate without gathering some testimony. Remember that what happens before we all fall asleep can be hints for where to check out, or even hints about the victims or suspects if we can connect stuff correctly.
So let's go down the line, yeah? Share where you stayed, who you were with, what happened before you fell asleep, and also what happened when you woke up. Then share your theories and ideas and we'll make a running list of places and people to possibly check out.

. . . Ah. If anyone recalls that odd thing I was doing yesterday, don't worry about it. It wasn't related to curfew. We can discuss it later.

MINI INVES!
On that note, who were the lucky few able to see strange things yesterday? The first location I'd like to check is the Observation Room. Yesterday, it took myself, Misa and Primrose some struggle to get the door open, as if it was jammed, and once we were able to, all the lights were dimmed.
That, and there was the sound of something rolling across the floor when we were in there. We tried to bring the lights on and attempted to find the source of the rolling object, but were unable to.
As a reminder, too, once we all go off to explore locations, do remember to send a message back to the group if you find things, so we're not stuck waiting to theorize, as was brought up earlier in the week.

observing room report
Um... there's not a lot to report back with? We found a lot of blood splattered around the observing room's desk and chair. Maybe someone was sitting on it when they were attacked? And speaking of which...
[ here she gestures to grace, who is holding a large bloodied telescope before it gets dropped off at evidence. ]
We found this too, just leaning against the wall behind the door. Gracie says it's broken, so that could explain the broken glass where Chai [ childe ] was. It might also be a clue for the metal rolling sound we heard when my group checked the room out yesterday?
[ she huffs tiredly before muttering under her breath, ] I wanted to find something more helpful.
no subject
It's covered in blood, more on the larger end, the glass is broken, and it's a bit dented on the larger end too. But there wasn't any glass in the room, so....

clorpse (clown corpse) deets
...someone attempted to take Douman's head off. They weren't successful - there was a wire stuck partway through their neck... but they did make some progress.
[disgusting.]
They were hit in the back of the head at some point, as well. There was a bruise - it was circular in shape, and about this size.
[she makes a circle with her fingers to demonstrate! per word of mod, it's about the size of a drink coaster.]
There was blood on their fingertips and under their nails, and... bits of skin under their nails, as well. They may have left scratches of some kind on their attacker. [...] There's a... bite mark on their hand that I don't quite recall seeing when I was with them in the medbay before curfew - but I don't think I was the last to see them, as some have said they saw them with one of their eyes back, and they still had none when I left. Can anyone account for that, or...?
[was this just a really kinky murder.]
Additionally, they were stabbed. [she gestures in the General Kidney Area.] A couple of times times, around here, with something that was small, thick, and left jagged, uneven marks, in about this size. [she measures with her fingers to demonstrate it - it's about dimesized!] They were in clusters of three, about the same distance apart from each other. [and then she'll hold her fingers about three inches apart from each other to demonstrate!] I'm not sure what sort of weapon would leave such marks, but it appeared that they'd been stabbed multiple times with it, whatever it was. There were some places where they overlapped, but... there was something of a pattern to them.
["clonestamped" is how it was described but she does not know that word.]
There were some... other wounds that looked more faded, but they were likely from earlier in the week, or at least from before they used the pod to recover one of their eyes. They seemed to be of the... ah, indulgent, variety. [a beat. she clears her throat.] ...I won't ask anyone to account for those - I think we should probably be paying more attention to the fresh wounds, at any rate...
[she looks so tired. someone point her to where she can wash her hands please.]

murder tea...............2!
Okay, so... Tea Room definitely had enough blood in it to account for Douman's death. Droplets of blood leading into the room, smeared bloody footprints, and splatters like someone was dripping blood while moving — not like when blood splatters ten feet away. [No velocity splatters, basically.] Megara and I did a comparison, and the prints were definitely bigger than us. I took a picture of my foot next to them, too. I'm not sure how helpful they will be since they weren't full prints, but we should definitely compare foot sizes later.
[A gentle shrug like, what can you do.]
Megara found a broken bottle that looked like it came from the common room, bloody on the sharp edges. I found part of a broken tea set, too, but no liquid. So it probably didn't have anything in it. Some of the tables were bumped out of the way, and a chair or two was knocked over — so maybe that explains what happened to the tea set. There was a larger puddle of blood toward the back of the room, sort of... pooling in the center?
[A beat, and she glances at Meg.]
I think that's everything, right? Did I miss something?
no subject
So evidence we have so far is the telescope, the broken bottle, and the broken tea set. We also have foot size comparisons to do. Who will look at what.

STRIP CHECK + HAND CHECK
We are going to do a strip check now, because it is necessary this week. In addition for cuts and scrapes, we are looking for any sort of stain or marking on the body, as well as signs of something having been scrubbed away. I will also need to see everyone's hands, so present them before you undress.
Molly, Ming Yi, come here. [They're both tall.] If anyone would like privacy, you may use Mollymauk's coat. It is a poor barrier, but it is the best I can do. You may have one person of your choosing examine you and one person not of your choosing examine you behind the barrier, but you may say so if there is any person you would find objectionable. If you need assistance dressing and undressing, I will provide it. If this proposal isn't acceptable, we may discuss further.
If anyone chooses to turn this into an opportunity for jokes or personal comments or generally reprehensible behavior, I will punish you for it. Don't doubt me.

omi (not a clown) corpse deets
I checked Omi's body and the most noticeable injury was his head is caved in. It was bad enough where his skull was crushed and you can see brain matter. Around that area, I found these glass pieces. [ shows the glass in one hand. ] There was some splattered blood on his shirt, but also some strange damp spots, too.
[ gojou did not try to sniff the damp spots he isn't that kind of insane ]
The rest of his body looked fine, all joints worked fine, too.
[ In his ungloved hand: Phone! Notebook that says "TOP SECRET" on the cover. ]
These were in his pocket. I can't access anything on the phone, but the notebook is full of breathing techniques, articulation, exercises and acting tips. There's a bit about disbanding the Wolves, which was the biker gang he was a part of.

kitchen
Uh... well, the stove's warm, and we found food in the sink? [he holds up the drain holder of chopped veggies and a few whole noodles.] There was some water in a cupboard that had some wet bowls. Kind of like Omi made a meal, ate it, and then cleaned up after. Maybe?
[he points at yuel who has the bowls, before he also shoves the drain holder at her.]
And it took fucking forever, but we also found a bunch of drops splattered on the table! [there's a table, did you know.] Some of 'em were a little red and smelled like salt and copper, so I guess that's blood? Diluted blood?? And then there were some that weren't red that just tasted salty.
[how does he know that
don't ask
but anyway he waves his phone.]
Dunno if it'll help, but I got a picture.

AOI AND SQX
All right. Whoever did this to them, you have the next ten minutes to come clean. If you are rightfully ashamed and fear our judgment, text your confession to someone else here. If it is not confirmed within ten minutes that someone has taken responsibility, we will be forced to assume this was a hostile action done by or in defense of Omi's murderer and act accordingly.
Understood?

omi murder catherd
Mostly, Omi-san’s case takes place in the Kitchen and Observation Room. According to Gojou-san, Omi-san was going to start the evening in the Kitchen. But we also know that he died there.
Omi-san’s injuries are having his head caved in and the glass found on his body is from the telescope that we got from the observation room. There was brain matter on the telescope and that’s his primary injury. So, the murder weapon was the telescope. There was blood splattered on his shirt, and damp spots on him.
In the kitchen, there was water in a cupboard that had wet bowls, and food in the sink. There were also drops splattered on the table – some were a little red so the guess is diluted blood. The ones that weren’t red just [glances tiredly at white] tasted salty.
In the observing room, there was blood splattered around the desk and chair and the telescope we talked about was leaning against the wall behind the door.
So we’ve got facts… Now we just need to figure out how to tie any of this to suspects. Can we think about any of the effects that we got overnight that might point us to people? Dogs were sleepy and howling – but I guess Omi-san’s biker gang was called Wolves. Maybe something about the library books being on grief could explain tears? The other guesses were for Despair, Sloth, and Gluttony sins.

15 AND COUNTING (dw permitting)
We're getting down to the last call. How're we doing this?
[ They're not any closer to confirming Omi's killer, and they have Law's confession and evidence - but the votes aren't mandatory, so. ]

RESULTS
The clock strikes 9pm, and a loud, but delicate chime rings throughout the conference room. A female voice comes over what sounds like a speaker, though there are none visible in the room.
Time's up.
From behind the tables, the Avatars all give each others looks, but none of them get up, until finally Envy pushes himself to his feet and stands to turn to the TV on the wall behind them.
"Okay, so, your votes are all counted."
The TV flickers, and the names and portraits of several participants show up on the screen. A number flashes beneath each one.
Participant One: Trafalgar Law
Participant Two: Gojou Satoru
"You voted... correctly." There's a pause, and then he gives them all a little smile. "I mean, I guess you all know it's correct by now, right? Would've been a mess if he was lying. Thanks for taking yourself out." That last bit is directed at Law, still with a smile.
The screen flashes again, and Law's's portrait comes up on screen, accompanied by sparkles and confetti. Mass amounts of confetti rain down from the ceiling, too.
And then the room goes dark. If you strain your ears, you might just hear the sound of something writhing and skittering in the darkness, just for a moment. When the lights snap on a moment later, Law is gone.
The door to the conference room is now unlocked. Anyone who would like to speak to Law is more than welcome to. Just ask the Avatars - one of them will show you the way to Simulations, where Law is sitting in a jail cell in the middle of the room.
Thank you for participating in today's trial. If you would like to volunteer (oocly) for tomorrow's execution, sign-ups are open! Execution will be live tomorrow at 1pm EST/10am PST unless specified.
Your Avatars are available for PCs and texts, though some may not answer.
See you all tomorrow!
