Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.

goood morning! come join us in the conference room when you're ready!

Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Lust, Pride, Envy and Gluttony patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.

Victims: Omi Fushimi, Ashiya Douman

Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.

Lust is at the table and seems to be finishing a topcoat on their nails. Pride is looking down at their claws, sprawled in their chair. Envy is slumped forward on the table... but don't worry, he's not dead this time, he just has his head pillowed on his folded arms. Gluttony is sitting up straight, hands laced together and waiting.

The rest of the Avatars all look at Pride after a moment of silence, and then, vaguely annoyed, Pride says:

What? They know they have nine hours by this point. Don't look at me.

Hello, and welcome to fourth third trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.

Did Douman spend any time in one of those pods, or did they just avoid it entirely...?

They did. One eye was healed, when I saw them.

... That's helpful to know, actually. So they weren't completely blinded, but working with half their usual vision.

That could be why someone targeted them, after all. [ ... bad. but given he was thinking of douman wandering around, bumping into things... not as bad as previously assumed. ]

They were also having difficulty walking. [So, yeah. It's not a bad theory.] This is the second week in a row someone who vanished earlier in the day has been killed, as well. It could be a coincidence, but...

... You're wondering if someone's targeting people who vanish on a Thursday?

I wouldn't call it a solid theory. [Twice doesn't quite make a pattern?] But it doesn't feel quite right to call it a coincidence, either.

But the beginnings of a potential one. It's something to keep in mind -- I'm still fairly convinced we were looking at one living killer last week, so it... could be the same person. Perhaps.

[A nod. They're just working with what they've got, here.]

I would say it could be they're easy targets, but Vlad was already pretty healed.

Granted, he was probably just an easy target normally.

His unpopularity makes it difficult to guess... [Literally anyone could've targeted Vlad for any reason and everyone would've gone "fair enough"]

Douman also had the second highest votes last week, too. We should keep that in mind.

One of their eyes was back when Mahito checked in on them, so yes...?

So we know they weren't totally blind on Thursday night. There's that much, at least.

Not... totally blind - but I wouldn't say they were in any good condition to fight either. I think that they were pretty unstable on their feet, and pretty prone to getting dizzy.

So slightly better if they were to get attacked, but still... their killer probably wouldn't need to be crazy capable to take them out.

I was wondering if they were all that and without vision. [ it's an improvement. ] But there'd be depth perception issues as well -- [ you'd know that wouldn't you, you eyepatch wearing nerd ] -- alongside all of the other injuries they'd had.

For the record, Douman lost their eyes at separate time. When they were only missing one in there, they didn't seem to have any trouble fighting. Or shooting a gun.

... So it's likely they could've defended themselves when attacked, regardless. There's also... well. Fight or flight that kicks in. Adrenaline could do a lot as well.

They didn't have to deal with side effects back then, though... So, that's a concern.

Their aim wasn't very good though!

Yeah. In general, it'd be easier to take out Ashiya-san this week than any other. So when we're looking at suspects, we won't need to limit it to just people who'd be able to take them in a fight.

But we need to check out their body before we reach any conclusions about how.

You said Douman's side effect was . . . feeling dizzy, correct?

[aubins]

Exactly. Find out where they died and they we can start piecing this together a little better.

The dizziness is more concerning than the blindness, if you're capable enough.

That being said, with the way the pods in the medbay were cracked at the tops, I wonder if perhaps Douman might have come to the medbay when he awoke. It's just a theory, of course, but... were I that injured, and awake on a Thursday evening while the rest of the base was sleeping, I might have headed for the medbay to give myself a fighting chance. Most of us weren't sleeping in the pods, so, there were certainly some available.

Maybe. We don't really know how they work - if you can brute force them open since everything unlocks anyway. We can and should check out the medbay, but I think about if you're in a pod and the killer comes to find you. They're between you and the door.

When we look at Ashiya-san's body, we should see if their eye healed any more. That'd be the easiest way to tell, right?
