WEEK 4 TRIAL

POPULATION: 23

Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.

trial. noon.

Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Wrath, Greed, Despair and Sloth patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.

Victim: Eleanor Shellstrop

Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.

Wrath is sitting on the table, organizing notes and gently sliding them to Greed. Sloth is here with what looks like a dog-shaped neck pillow sticking out of the edges of their hood. The spiraled horn on the top of their head is longer and sharper. Greed is leaning against the table in an attempt to be present, hands tentatively reaching forward to take the papers from Wrath. Despair has taken their usual seat, just vibing here as they quietly observe. Oddly, Sloth, Greed and Wrath are not in their cloaks today. Instead, they are in sweatpants (shorts in Wrath's case) and cozy hoodies in their color with their symbol printed on the front. The hoods are pulled over their heads however. Once everyone has settled, Sloth chimes in.

Everyone has nine hours again! You can do it! Last time, you even did it a little early! Wow!

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Hello, and welcome to your fifth trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.

Good luck, and have fun!

I don't think it was Misa.

[she crosses her arms]

If you and Sheila together had trouble moving that rack, she'd definitely struggle with it. [no offense misa] I agree it could have been moved with a power, but that seems... if you could make yourself strong enough to do that, there are more effective ways to use it in a murder, don't you think?

Aside from that - if she actually was the killer, simply waiting for us to find the burn simply makes no sense at all. She knows we regularly check hands, and she knows we regularly check for injuries. A killer would try to come up with some excuse for it. Someone who simply doesn't know what to do wouldn't.

...she seems genuinely distraught, to me.

Unless it was a strategy - aware she'd be caught with the burn, she'd instead appeal to our sense of her as an innocent victim.

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
...that would be a foolish strategy. I think enough of us made it clear last week that we'd vote for someone who killed if we caught them.

Or someone who annoys you.

[thinks about vlad]

Or that, yes.

I believe it worth nothing that she saw how we handled when Ming Yi came forward with information about strange occurrences that had happened during curfew, and we had time to investigate what could be the true sequence of events.

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
...well... yes. She did see that, but...

[she bites her lip]

A burn is somewhat more incriminating than what happened to him. Someone could easily take his things; it would be harder for some of us to believe that a burn would just randomly appear...

I think she just didn't know what to do.

So... Something like what we saw happened to Ming Yi the other week? So obvious, it had to be someone sloppily framing him.
shiftingwinds: (051)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that. I'm not sure how the burn ended up on her, but -

I really don't think it was her who killed Eleanor. Her reaction seemed genuine to me.
toesies: (086)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah... She would need to have some serious skills as an actress to make it look that good, huh?
shiftingwinds: (025)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
[she nods]

She would, yes.
toesies: (084)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
So... We can agree that something like that is doable for someone who has acting skills, can't we?
shiftingwinds: (054)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
...

[she checks the profiles on her phone really quick]

I still don't think it was Misa. I'm more than five hundred years old, I wouldn't be so easily fooled by an actress.
toesies: (135)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
We've been fooled several weeks in row by more than one actor, though. And that includes the shitty robot. Just saying.
shiftingwinds: (048)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
...still, it's difficult to imagine Misa doing this.
toesies: (139)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's hard to imagine any of our friends as murderers, I know.
shiftingwinds: (054)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
...there's not even really anything else that points to her - just the burn and her reaction to it. I don't want to sentence her to death over just that.
toesies: (028)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
And what Harrowhark has been saying?
shiftingwinds: (Default)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
When you take that into account, then Misa definitely shouldn't have been able to kill Eleanor.
toesies: (091)

[personal profile] toesies 2021-03-14 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well...

[She looks like she's about to say something but, haha. There goes Vira.]
