WEEK 1 TRIAL
POPULATION: 33
Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.
Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Lust, Pride, Envy and Gluttony patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.
Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.
For a moment, everything looks completely normal, until you notice Envy slumped face-down on the table, bleeding out from a stab wound in the front. Lust is busy putting a pink fluffy towel under their head, Pride is sitting slouched in a chair twirling a knife, and in that moment Gluttony claps their hands together to get everyone's attention.
"If you would please get started. You all have nine fleeting hours to find out what happened, and place your votes."
Hello, and welcome to your second trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.
Good luck, and have fun!

[ but is there anything on the ground as meg slowly wanders in? footprints or any kind of trail or odd marks? ]
no subject
Smoke, chocolate taste, dancing china, from what I can recall.
[Actually, if Nathan is checking tea and meg is checking the ground, Molly will go over and start poking through the sandwiches and snacks and what not?]
no subject
however, there's something dark on the ground a few feet away from meg, in the wall-to-wall fake grass carpet.]
no subject
Doesn't look like anyone had a tea party during the murder. See anything over there?
no subject
[ if she goes to inspect it what will she find ]
no subject
what if he eats one
if that doesn't instantly kill him he'll look under the table and chairs real quick, see if anything is hiding about there]
no subject
nah, it just tastes like a regular sandwich or dessert. nothing under the table or chairs!
the dark thing on the ground appears to be scorch marks! they're just burnt through the grass at random.]
no subject
[ Might as well enjoy something from this adventure. They will walk over to Meg though to see what she got. ]
Speaking of hot, I will have words if the killer used fire to kill.
[ Fire is Nathan's thing. Is there a particular pattern to the melted fake grass? ]
no subject
[ this is just random marks? the fuck?
they're not going in any particular direction, are they? like maybe someone was running from then and their killer was shooting fire at them or whatever? not that meg would know anything about a flamethrower, but you know ]
no subject
[stop,
Anyway, the scorch marks seem covered, the tables are totally undisturbed? No tea set moved or chair even pulled out?
Also. Looking up the walls with their illusion and up at the ceiling.]
Got something over there?
no subject
the tables are undisturbed, no tea sets moved. nothing on the ceiling.
by the wall, pride calls out:]
If there's another place you want to check, say so now.
no subject
This is an insult to fire users every where.
no subject
There's no rhyme or reason to this, is there?
[ ugh, this tells us nothing. yet. ]
Well? What do you two think - should we try somewhere else, if we're done here? They said something was off about the circus, right?
no subject
There is fire there. The flaming hoops.
no subject
Oooh that's a good idea. [ Looking over at Envy ] Mind taking us to the circus?
no subject
pride pushes off the wall and waves a hand. the three of them all immediately feel a weird vertigo effect as they swap places with their shadows? and then they swap again. you're now in the circus!
hooray. the room seems relatively undisturbed, but there are a few spotlights on in the area with the tightrope, flaming hoops, and flying trapeze. it smells like cooked meat in here, and... burnt something else.]
no subject
[ but meg has weak ankles, so she's going to check the floor first again! and, also, the walls. any trails of note, or lesbian hand posters? ]
no subject
We couldn't have walked? It was literally right next door.
[Anyway, sneef. Does it . . . does smell like burnt person. Because I hate to say this, but Molly definitely knows what burnt person smells like.
Heading on over to where the spotlights are shining, to see if theres anything obvious.]
no subject
[ Looking over at Molly for a moment. ] Still feeling alright there?
[ Time to get up to the tightrope. What do we have here? ]
no subject
unfortunately molly does in fact recognize the burning smell, because it is burnt person. it's burnt hair, specifically, and a sort of burnt papery smell.
the tightrope itself seems fine, but around the area underneath it there are pieces of metal embedded into the ground, as well as a few stray scorch marks.]
no subject
[ anyway. while nathan is going up, meg is staying on the ground! what are those metal pieces, anything recognizable? are the scorch marks similar to the tea room? ]
no subject
So, uh, that's burnt person. Just so everyone knows. Hair and such.
[going over to the flaming hoops? Do they look disturbed?]
no subject
[ Thank you Meg for saving a girl from going up and down while in heels. Anything else they can spot from up there? If not, they will mosey on over to the trapeze. ]
no subject
as molly is walking to the flaming hoops, he'll see a tiny pile of ash between the tightrope section and the flaming hoops section.
however, the flaming hoops look undisturbed, and the trapeze does as well. they just seem to be in the same area as the tightrope area's spotlights.]
no subject
[ disgusting. anyway! let's say she's looking at the area around the metal pieces too? like, looking at the scatter pattern and concentration, and how deep they're embedded in the ground. ]
Hey, Pride, got something we could use to pick up some of these shards? Thick gloves or some kind of cloth?
[ if they give her something, she'll very carefully pick some of them out of the ground, if she's able. ]
