Good morning, starshines. It is another beautiful day here on the base and it’s the start of a new week!

Good thing, too. After the deaths of Tamaki Suoh and Beauregard, the tension around the base may be a bit higher than it was before. Should anyone try to contact the deceased or review their profiles, they will find that they have been deleted from everyone's phones.

Or maybe you don't care and this is life as usual. That's fine, too. With everything in working order once again, the elevator reveals that it may now visit the second floor. Perhaps it’s worth checking out these new areas, free for exploration.

While you can't contact the deceased, the Avatars are once again available via their eight symbols. Shoot them a message, have a chat with them, and see what you can learn. Perhaps you'll find it easier this week.

But...while adjusting to life here may be easier to handle, you may find other things which used to come easy have been tempered this week. Are you well-known for your swordfighting skills? Suddenly you'll find you can barely hold a blade. Do you pride yourself on your sociable personality? A crippling shyness may overwhelm you, making it difficult to speak to people at all. As the week goes on, it becomes clear that the special trait or skill you've invested so much time and energy in is no longer something that comes easily to you.

Looks like it's back to the basics.

gu yun has a smile for gluttony when he pops into the tea room - he returns the bow with a quick nod of his head and a press of his hand to his fist, remembering his manners, then waves the question off. ]

No need for any service. Are you much of a tea drinker, Gluttony? This place is wonderful.

Thank you. I do not drink it myself, but I am a bit of a connoisseur.

Well, I suppose I could ask for a recommendation. I've got a sensitive palate, if you've got something lighter.

Any reason you don't drink it? Personal taste?

I will drink if someone would like for me to do so with them, but I also have a sensitive palate.

Is there something you are craving in particular?

[ haha! he grins. ]

That makes two of us, then! Interesting, for Gluttony. [ as for taste. . . ] I suppose I like green tea the best, since it's the most familiar to home.

Is there anything in particular you don't like? For me, it's anything too sweet. Anything with too much vinegar, too.

[they motion for him to have a seat with a white-gloved hand.]

Genmaicha then. It is a gentle and nutty.

[they will begin to prepare a hot cup, and then the infuser with the leaves out of one of the tins.]

There is nothing in particular which I dislike.

[ he gives another little bow of his head, because he wasn't raised in a barn, and goes to take a seat. gu yun really looks like he belongs there, with his fancy robes and long hair, and he settles down patiently with his legs tucked underneath him, back nice and straight. ]

Despite having a sensitive palate? [ there's a bit of a tease to that. ]

gluttony rests the infuser over the cup to let it steep.]

I believe it is more "what do I like" rather than "what do I dislike," but the answer to that question is confidential.

Oh-ho? A servant in every manner of the word, then? [ it's just an observation, but. also! it's kind of obvious. ] At least, how some would like it, I suppose, servant included... Huo Dan's not all that different.

You all don't have to indulge too, right? So I suppose saying "a break from work isn't a bad thing" is moot.

Oh, do I give that impression?

[they politely stand there, straight, waiting on the tea to steep for a few minutes.]

I would prefer a day on rather than a day off, if I am honest. Though your Huo Dan may think things different than me, of course.

[ there's a beat - gu yun laughs, and shakes his head. it's genuine instead of shitty, a little fond. ]

No, no.. he definitely doesn't. He's really getting on in his years, though, so I wish he'd take a day off, or two. Or retire, perhaps! I have tried, but that old mule would rather putter around the manor, too.

[ pot, kettle.... etc ] You do give off that impression - but, perhaps only because I'm familiar with it.

Ah. He reminds me of someone else who has not once taken into consideration the idea of leaving servitude. Loyalty is very strong in some, sir. You should be glad he lacks the fickleness to leave you on your own.

Every master is as strong as the servant behind them, you know.

[they place the cup, on a saucer, in front of gu yun, the handle turned the correct way.]

Here you are. Genmaicha, green tea mixed with roasted and popped brown rice.

[ ahhh, huo dan. he waves a hand, but that good natured smile stays. ]

I am, I am. The entire Marquis's Manor is in his care, and always has been - I think it'd all fall to pieces if he did leave. [ gu yun takes the cup, careful with the handle (tea cups with handles! Westerners,) and lifts it. ] He was there when I was born, and he'll likely be there when I die. I'm starting to think the old man may be immortal, which might explain a thing or two.

Thank you, Gluttony. [ with a duck of his head, politely, he'll try it.. and, oh! it's good, even for his picky baby tastebuds. ]

What a loyal servant you have dedicated to you and the household. Immortal, or not. A servant's spirit never dies, even when their body is gone.

he. clears his throat with a cough after a minute and has to reach up to wipe at his eye under his liuli glass, like he's wiping away a tear. ] Hahaa... no, certainly not... Ohh, my sides.

Oh, I'm sure. I just never know quite what to expect of you all... it's quite fun to be kept guessing, at least for this.

It's a form of indulgence in its own right, isn't it? Dressing in things you can't often wear.

I suppose that is one way of looking at it, yes. It is less I earn something out of it, and more I simply enjoy the aesthetic.
