WEEK 4 TRIAL

POPULATION: 23

Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.

trial. noon.

Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Wrath, Greed, Despair and Sloth patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.

Victim: Eleanor Shellstrop

Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.

Wrath is sitting on the table, organizing notes and gently sliding them to Greed. Sloth is here with what looks like a dog-shaped neck pillow sticking out of the edges of their hood. The spiraled horn on the top of their head is longer and sharper. Greed is leaning against the table in an attempt to be present, hands tentatively reaching forward to take the papers from Wrath. Despair has taken their usual seat, just vibing here as they quietly observe. Oddly, Sloth, Greed and Wrath are not in their cloaks today. Instead, they are in sweatpants (shorts in Wrath's case) and cozy hoodies in their color with their symbol printed on the front. The hoods are pulled over their heads however. Once everyone has settled, Sloth chimes in.

Everyone has nine hours again! You can do it! Last time, you even did it a little early! Wow!

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Hello, and welcome to your fifth trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.

Good luck, and have fun!

Was this the mini-event power, or one given by the Avatar?
bonetiddies: (πŸ’€it was also the night that)

The mini-event power. The one you had as well.

Then I know you know there's a chance it might not be fully effective. Maybe not for the whole time it was intended to be. I can't say for sure if she did it, but the possibility is there.

[ ... ]

Also, on a side note, Eleanor had a knife, didn't she? If we assume the fire was her doing, and she injured herself there, could we also assume someone chased her trying to make sure she was okay after injuring herself? The stock pot shows she attacked, so there's a potential that this was all self-defence based.

She would've gotten the knife from the kitchen where she died, so. Doubtful.

I didn't say the knife was with her in the house. But if you followed someone to check on them and they came at you with a knife...
alteracion: (who could protect me)

[personal profile] alteracion 2021-03-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
You'd lock them in a freezer so they died of frostbite?
aubins: (11)

[personal profile] aubins 2021-03-14 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
If you panic enough, maybe.
alteracion: (sorry i don't treat you like you're perf)

[personal profile] alteracion 2021-03-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Panic lock someone in a freezer, then methodically clean the blood off yourself and go to the laundry room for your outfit?

People do the most illogical things after a moment of extreme trauma or stress. If you couldn't get that person out again, wouldn't a potential next step be "stop myself from being caught"?
shiftingwinds: (025)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
...what are you thinking, Yuri?
aubins: (11)

[personal profile] aubins 2021-03-14 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ please don't look to me for answers at 1:30 am i'm begging you ]

If someone attacks you, you act in self defence. Whether that turns out to be "lock someone in a freezer" or not, I can't say, but generally speaking you'd want to keep the person potentially attacking you with a knife as far away as possible. Wouldn't you say?

... I can't say who it was, I'll emphasise that. But if we're tossing around theories.
shiftingwinds: (048)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
...that's true, yes. If someone was trying to stab me I'd certainly want them as far away from me as possible.

[...]

But Eleanor had a head injury - wouldn't they have been able to outrun her...?
aubins: (8)

[personal profile] aubins 2021-03-14 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe...

...

Do we know if the freezer shuts from the inside or just the outside? [ could she... have hidden in there and someone just blocked the door so she couldn't get out? i don't know. help. ]
shiftingwinds: (116)

[personal profile] shiftingwinds 2021-03-14 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[she shakes her head]

I don't know. I think you'd need to ask Harrow, Grace, or Sheila.
bonetiddies: (they've never seen so much)

[personal profile] bonetiddies 2021-03-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
She was still under the effect on Friday. I thought it would likely only last 12 hours instead of 24, but it was clearly still affecting her. So you're correct - it may not have been fully effective.

...

We would never have known how it would work until we used it. I would've thought it'd be hours based as well. [ not, potentially, ongoing effectiveness. ]
