Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.

Proceed to the conference room.

Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Greed, Wrath, Despair and Sloth patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.

Victims: Vlad Masters, Steven A Starphase, Luca Valentino

Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.

Greed is seated at the end of the table with a series of papers in their hands. Wrath is sitting sideways in a chair, leaning against Despair, feet in Greed's lap, with their phone out, taking selfies. Despair seems to be holding still to allow this. Sloth is dead asleep, head down on the table and snoring. When some of the last few people enter, they startle awake suddenly with a yelp which gets everyone's attention.

"Ahh, I'm up! Wow, it's time already?! You guys have 9 long hours to figure everything out!"

Hello, and welcome to your third trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.

There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.

Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.

[despair leads them to the elevator! they get to walk, this time, because certain someones complained about teleportation in the last trial that despair did investigation escorts and a bitch does not forget.

anyway! when the elevator opens, there are bloody footprints in here that appear to both enter and exit the elevator.]

I believe one end of the trail is covered, but I suppose you would like to go to the start?

[they are tired and they don't make them guess further. despair hits the third floor button. when the elevator opens, there are bloody footprints leading to the elevator from the chapel.]

[ im sobbing. im gomen mods. anyway before entering the chapel itself, misa will go up to look at the prints and line her own smol feets up to see how they compare? as she does so, she also comments under her breath, ]

I guess in hindsight it should've been kind of obvious that place would be involved...

Obvious? How come?

[ Meanwhile, Yuel has no idea what the chapel has to do with anything and I am in tears.

But she'll let Misa examine the foot prints, while she follows them inside to see where the end, while keeping an eye out for any signs of a fight or struggle. ]

[misa will see these are definitely bigger than her feets!

as yuel enters the chapel, at a glance she will see that the middle of the red carpet seems a little bit off-color and there are similar spots of discoloration between there and the altar. she'll also notice there's a terrible smell in here! gross. it's like something burning, but she might not be able to identify it immediately. it is not an organic burning smell. there's something around the altar too, though she maybe can't see much from here.]

Whenever you see a church or chapel sort of place in a book or movie, especially a horror one, something definitely happened there! And just try telling me we're not in a horror movie.

[ she's just saying!

but once she's gotten an idea of feets, she catches up to and trails behind yuel... will she. uh. will she be able to identify the "terrible smell" immediately. is it something she recognizes, or is it something she's never encountered before? ]

[ Thankfully, Yuel is immune to bad smells after spending six hours in Shit Hell, so she doesn't mind the smell. But she will nose on over to the alter.

Hello? Half of Steven's head, are you there? ]

I guess this is pretty horrific. I can hold yer hand if yer scared.

[misa, being more modern, probably recognizes it's more chemical-y. like burnt plastic.

if yuel is trotting right up to the altar... the red carpet squishes beneath her feet along the way! that's probably fine. those spots of discoloration lead up to a pool of blood at the base of the altar.

misa might also catch that something seems off about the pew area around the bigger spot of discoloration that yuel stepped through, meanwhile.]

Maybe after we get out of here and wash our hands, especially if we find dead stuff!

[ sorry no lesbian time on a time limit :( and hmmmm hate that. all of it! misa, at least, won't let that deter her from continuing on... in fact, it actually seems to give her a bit of a brain blast. ]

Is this why Vivi and the others had that melted tray? She mentioned the praying too, and that it was probably a man's voice...

[ she will go on and inspect that pew area, thank u, crouching down to get a closer look at it and the carpet itself. do the areas of discoloration smell like blood? ]

[ Yuel doesn't wear shoes, so the fact that she's stepped all over blood would be really unfortunately if she hadn't, once again, spent six hours stepping in (simulated) horse shit.

But, this is real so it does get an, ] Eww! This place is covered in blood! [ out of her.

She does have the heebie jeebies, but she's going to press on anyway toward the altar, to see if there's anything at the base or behind it. ]

[yuel sweetie you're doing your best. also yeah her bare feet are all bloody now, rip to her poor mistreated feet. misfeeted. PLEASE someone put shoes on your furry.

the altar seems to just have that big pool of blood at its base! it's like, right at the base, and there is a trail between here and the area misa is inspecting.

while misa looks closer, she will find those areas do smell like blood! there is blood spattered onto the adjacent pews, as well. along with this, she will see it's not... all blood. there are bits and chunks mixed in. some pieces of bone, some gory bits. some is also stuck to the pews, a little.]

[ oh. SHE SCREAMS.

but also hewwo is there noticeable head chunks??? ]

Misa?!

[ She's going to run over when Misa screams, and also stare at the gore. Are any of the pews disturbed or was it just like the stuff splattered on them? ]

[the pews are not disturbed! this was just splattered onto them.

also these chunks are not necessarily immediately identifiable as head chunks, they're just. gross chunks of gore and not necessarily intact pieces. unless misa is familiar with what that'd look like in which case you'll get a better answer!]

S-sorry, I just– I wasn't expecting to find stuff like this? Like, those chunks used to be somebody...

[ she wouldn't know any more than the average layperson, no, and she doesn't quite know that steven's body has been updated so she wouldn't be inclined to search specifically for head stuff if they're not something obvious like an eyeball or tooth or something. rip. ]

Um. We should probably get back to looking around, but... do you think we have to take these bits back with us?

[ although she is nowhere near as enthusiastic about it now, and is actually kinda dreading it, she'll try to lift the carpet stretch that yuel squished through. ]

[ Okay, that's pretty gross, and Yuel is looking a little green too. ]

Um... maybe? We can take 'em back if we don't find anything else.

[ She's going to wobble over to the candles to see if she can see where the smell of burnt plastic is coming from. ]

[it's stronger around the candles, but there's not much around here.

misa can find a tooth, as a.... treat...? well, she finds a tooth in there, anyway. as she tries to lift the carpet, she'll find it's definitely harder to lift thanks to being wet with blood.]

[ THANKS I GUESS... as she realizes the bone in question, she whispers: ]

Oh my god that's a tooth.

[ but back to the carpet...when it proves to be stubborn, she grimaces. ]

H-hey Yuyu, you're strong, right? While I'm checking this out, can you see if there's anything else under the altar? Like, try to push it a little?

[ she'll put a little more muscle into picking it up just in case there's something other than blood to find... also hey we haven't looked at the ceiling yet either right is there anything on the ceiling. ]

[fluffier]

[ Yuel is staring at the candles and squinting. Is there any suspicious wax where it shouldn't be (i.e. far from where the candles are)? She wouldn't know how many candles are normally there, but would she notice that any are missing?

Either way, when she hears Misa suggestion she'll look back. ]

Oh yeah, I'm pretty strong.

[ So she's going to walk over to the altar and just push it to see if any bloody writing reveals itself. ]

[none missing! the wax is all where it goes.

lifting the carpet reveals... only more blood. it soaked through. similarly, yuel will not find anything new by pushing the altar.

also the ceiling is a nice chapel ceiling. no ceiling cats here in this investigation.]

Um...

[ she's officially out of ideas?? with those latest checks turning up nothing, she turns to yuel with a blank look, then switches her focus to despair. a sort of annoyed look comes over her face before she smooths her expression over again. ]

Despair, can you take these... um... body pieces back for us? For evidence reasons.

[fluffier]

[ She's also out of ideas, but she's going to do a quick look around the perimeter to see if there's anything out of the ordinary, before looking at Misa. ]

We're really takin' something back? [ eww ] But... I can't see anythin' else outta the ordinary. It definitely looks like someone died here, which means that a body's shown up back in the conference room. We should head back to let 'em know where it was.

[probe]

[they don't find anything new! despair just has their arms folded, but when misa asks, they exhale a sigh. they lift one hand, still fabric-wrapped, and wave lazily; several of those bits just disappear in little black puffs. what, did you think they were going to touch it? the bits will be waiting for them in the conference room.]

If you are quite finished, then I will escort you back.

[ but before her mouth can get her in trouble again, she just shakes her head and looks to yuel... she gives the room one more glance, then holds out her hand. lesgo? ]
