Good morning, starshines. It is another beautiful day here on the base, and it’s the start of a new week!

Good thing, too. After the deaths of Grell Sutcliff, Kaz Kaan, and HK-47, the tension around the base may be a bit higher than it was before. Should anyone try to contact the deceased or review their profiles, they will find that they have been deleted from everyone's phones.

Then again...last weekend was a bit of a mess, wasn't it? Perhaps you would prefer to leave it all behind you. Lucky for you, the elevator reveals that it may now visit the third floor. It may be worth checking out these new areas, free for exploration. If you're feeling incredibly ambitious, you can also take a more in-depth look.

While you can't contact the deceased, the Avatars are once again available via their eight symbols. Shoot them a message, have a chat with them, and see what you can learn. Perhaps you'll find it easier this week.

...and out spills a large, stuffed scarecrow that looks like this? ]

Vlad hits the deck once the birds start divebombing and it only partially works. He looks up while a bird desperately tugs on his ponytail to see the scarecrow Vira is holding. ]

That's--they can't have--!!

[ He scoffs in offense and does nothing about the bird in his hair right now because he is TOO OFFENDED ]

[ no seeing the item, we die like men ]

Okay, first of all, so happy I can swear again. I know it's not our top priority, but it needs to be said.

[ man there's something like horrifying hilarious about this situation ]

Second of all, what in the shit is that supposed to be?

[ talking about scarecrow anime body pillow vlad. also she is no help to the actual vlad rip ]

Shoo, birds, shoo. Go get some bones for Harrow.

Whatever it may be, it is quite... horrifying.

[ not that she recognizes it as vlad. it's fine. she kinda... waves it a bit and one of the birds caws at it angrily, as though offended. wow. ]

Is it actually working?

[ Vlad squawks indignantly. ]

It is not horrifying! It's intimidating!

[ certainly more intimidating than a body pillow of him would be! ]

Really? Kind of just looks like a bluish green vampire weirdo? Like, a really old comic book character or something?

[ the birds sure do love attacking it!!! ]

[ sorry vlad. though she's not sure why he'd be invested in protecting this scarecrow's honor. ]

In any case, can one of you deal with defeating these creatures? My hands are full.

Anyway, as indignant as he is about this scarecrow's dignity, he can't deny that it is...very good at its task.

(what does that say about his ghost form? Would the ghost vultures do this to him if he didn't have them in his employ?)

I'm gonna say Vlad has the slingshot because why not and he aims--idk, a pebble? at one of the most stationary birds around the scarecrow. But he's not used to using slingshots, much less crappy ones, so it goes wide. Very wide. ]

That thing looks nothing like a ghost, dude! He -- is it even a he-- is way too goofy looking! Look at that hairdo!

[ yeah honestly why is vlad so defensive over this scarecrow? he must be projecting or something. anyway, doesn't make any sort of effort. just completely lets vlad handle it. sloth indulge, baybe!!! ]

[ the bird, on the other hand, notice his terrible slingshot skills and are offended! one of them abandons poor scareplasmius to swoop at vlad himself!! ]

Wuh woh.

[ she is not going to question why vlad is threatened by their perfectly reasonable explanations for what this scarecrow is? that seems like a personal problem and they do not have time to explore that baggage right now.

instead, she sort of... swings the ghost-crow at one of the birds, as though to discourage them from attacking vlad. it does not really work? she lets out an aggravated huff. ]

Strike it between the eyes!

[ she says, as though this is a simple task with a little baby slingshot ]

It is a he, and it's a very menacing hairdo!

[ and as he loads up another pebble in his shitty slingshot: ]

What do you think I'm trying to do?! It's not like this thing is particularly accurate!

[ He lets the pebble loose and this time it hits! Not in the face, but rather one of the wings. If nothing else, he's managed to ground one of these stupid birds. ]

Geez, is this scarecrow your boyfriend or something? Should I leave you two alone with the massive birds you're totally blowing your shot at hitting?

[ eleanor please do something, anything to help. ]

[ anyway, good job vlad!!! you gottem! it screeches angrily and then cries at the other ones for help. hmm, this may end up bad. ]

Vlad, please leave your predilection for scarecrows aside until we are done exterminating the threat.

[ you can flirt later??? she sticks the scarecrow spike in the ground for now to free up her hands. but they really need another way to hit these things, especially considering that there are now MORE birds. ]

[ He was juggling both just fine, but SURE. whatever! He'll 'hmph!' and focus on shooting these dang birds. He grabs another pebble, aims, and shoots--

--another bird hit in the wing again.

Another shot--a proper hit to the head, sending the bird plummeting to the ground with a squawk before it goes still.

And a third shot--total whiff.

Well. 2 out of 3 ain't bad, he supposes, but with the amount of birds they're fighting, he can't help but growl in frustration. ]

Getting a little warmer, at least.

[ but that one bird untouched by vlad's pebbles doesn't quite appreciate his improvement his improvement to slingshotting and makes a divebomb for him!!! not to attack, but... uh, carry him away? ]

[ hm. ]

[ ....hm. that sure is a large bird going for vlad. she can't exactly do much about it though, since it seems angry enough to be undeterred by their scarevlad. ]

Vlad, above you! [ good luck buddy ]

[ He looks up at Vira's warning and--oh. boy. that's a big, one huh. A very big bird that he pissed off.

Without hesitating, he immediately drops the slingshot and decks it, right in the head. It deters the bird for a few seconds successfully, but it's big enough that his punch doesn't do much more than anger it, much less his little pebbles.

So, this is Vlad getting lifted by the draping of his toga and carried awaaaayyyyyy...! ]

Watch out, dude!

[ that's the entirety of her helpfulness as vlad is carried off ]

[ i would add more but im at work and sneaking in a quick tag to keep things going ]

[ oh, there goes vlad. goodbye, vlad. ]

Ah...

[ he puts up a good effort, but how are they supposed to deal with birds this big anyway? she's only stunned for a second before she scoops up the slingshot.

also, some of the other birds are still attacking strawvlad, but one or two of the others start... singing? hm. ]

Try to direct the bird here! [ maybe she can shoot it?? options are limited here. ]

[ muted shouting from who knows high up in the air: ]

How on earth do you expect me to direct it?!

[ honestly vira's better off doing the shooting, but eleanor does take the scarevlad off her hands. ]

Grab onto its beak or something! I dunno man, it's a giant bird.

[ anyway she's taking aim, though she's suddenly feeling a little unsteady on her feet. she stops, blinks heavily, then shoots.

anyway, surprise, it whiffs because she's starting to fall asleep. ]

[ VIRA, YOUR SLEEPY BITCH DISEASE

Vlad barely has time to grumble before he decides to try out Eleanor's suggestion. He stretches his arms up and manages to grab--not its beak, but its neck. Good enough. He gives it a squeeze and a yank down, and then a tug to the side.

The bird follows his motions as though he's piloting it. Is this how directing birds works??? Hell if I know, but it's working right now. ]

[ eleanor is also being affected by sleep bitch disease, not that she's doing much to begin with. ]

What the shit......

[ but vlad grabbing its beak means the singing stops momentarily, enough to snap elenor out of it. she grabs vira's shoulder and gives her a shake ]

Hey, gorgeous! If anyone's sleeping on the job, it's me!
