WEEK 1 TRIAL
POPULATION: 33
Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.
Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Lust, Pride, Envy and Gluttony patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.
Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.
For a moment, everything looks completely normal, until you notice Envy slumped face-down on the table, bleeding out from a stab wound in the front. Lust is busy putting a pink fluffy towel under their head, Pride is sitting slouched in a chair twirling a knife, and in that moment Gluttony claps their hands together to get everyone's attention.
"If you would please get started. You all have nine fleeting hours to find out what happened, and place your votes."
Hello, and welcome to your second trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.
Good luck, and have fun!

Was there really a convenient flamethrower somewhere?
[okay but actually - ]
There's flaming hoops in the circus, huh.

... but the fire....
[THAT'S LIKE. THE MOST OBVIOUS SOURCE.]
So - what, it sounds like Sutcliffe-san fell on her back, and then got set on fire somehow? But then they took her chainsaw and then brought it over to the opium den for some reason? Or if there's scorch marks in the tea room, was there fire to start with there...?
Would the bright red circle - could it be something from Sutcliffe-san's person... Or her attacker's? Like - I dunno, an accessory?
no subject
It would have to be a large amount of fire, too. To burn her that well.

Sutcliffe-san - if she used hers - would've made her attacker fixate on something they'd lost. It would've lasted throughout yesterday.
So far I haven't heard of anything that can conjure fire... but the chainsaw had to have been in the circus at some point, because it was still warm when they found it in the opium den. Either because it was on, because Sutcliffe-san could use it even if it doesn't have fuel, or because it still had the heat from the fire.

I heard you could get powers too but.... Did somebody indulge that much already...? Isn't that how they're related?
no subject
I'll admit Wrath already gave me something—nothing on the level of, like, conjuring stuff up—but I didn't ask what the criteria was, if there was any.

If you get a power, does it manifest in a certain way? For example, like a plastic red circle?

So I'm thinking - a plastic red circle is more likely to be an accessory, and if it's by Sutcliffe-san's body, maybe she grabbed a piece from whoever she was fighting with before she fell.
And the fire power could've been something else.

Well, worth a shot. We can do spare outfit checks too.

We also got those blacklight flashlights, right? Dunno if they'll help us much here if we're looking for burns, but might as well keep them in mind.

You're really trying, White-kun!

[he pats white's shoulder]
It's cool of you. [especially since everyone roasts him to hell and back] I appreciate it.
