WEEK 1 TRIAL
POPULATION: 33
Rise and shine, little sinners. Did you rest well? Hope you weren't too perturbed by the events of the day before. Things seem to be perfectly normal throughout your morning, but at 12pm, everyone will receive a mass text message to their phone.
Whether you agree or disagree, soon you will find yourself physically moving toward the conference room on the bottom floor, filing into the room and taking a seat in one of the vacant chairs. Two metal boxes sit at the end of each table along with a collection of pens and colored notecards. At the head of the room, Lust, Pride, Envy and Gluttony patiently wait as the TV above them displays a message.
Once the last participant enters the room, the door will swing closed behind them and lock them inside.
For a moment, everything looks completely normal, until you notice Envy slumped face-down on the table, bleeding out from a stab wound in the front. Lust is busy putting a pink fluffy towel under their head, Pride is sitting slouched in a chair twirling a knife, and in that moment Gluttony claps their hands together to get everyone's attention.
"If you would please get started. You all have nine fleeting hours to find out what happened, and place your votes."
Hello, and welcome to your second trial! Over the course of the next nine hours, characters will have the opportunity to discuss, investigate and theorize about the events of the day before! While mini-investigations were held yesterday, today is the day characters will have time to examine the body of the victim and explore relevant locations.
There will be a mod-tag break between 4pm EST/1pm PST to 5pm EST/2pm PST. While the trial may continue and players can tag each other, mod-led threads such as questions and investigations will be on hold.
Finally, while voting is not mandatory, we do have a voting page should characters wish to vote! Please be sure that your vote is in by the time trial finishes (9pm EST/6pm PST) if you wish to vote.
Good luck, and have fun!

[he's a fussy roommate]
But... it was just warm in the Medical Bay, and I heard something about the Opium Room....
It's all just guesses though. It could be related to other stuff that isn't a fire.

But - ] Mollymauk brings up a good point, that Grell was "enjoying the show" last week. Perhaps this is related to her death. It wouldn't hurt for another check in the Medical Bay, and to head back to the Opium Room, to see if there's more evidence there.

It sounds like the smell of smoke was from the Tea Room... so I think people should head there, and then maybe the Opium Room afterward since they're close enough together, right?
So at least it'll give us a direction.
If there was a fire... we can either check people for possible burn injuries and scars, or ask if anyone was feeling weird on Friday in a way that related to warmth - and [a beat] .... I think Medical Bay people should still be checked even if ours might've been because of where we slept.
But - I also think people who got caught in the weird disappearance should be given some leeway.

The addition of the Medical Bay does make it difficult to double check for injuries, but whatever we can find will still benefit us. Especially if someone else noticed anything about anyone - it at least can bring focus to who and what we should be looking for.
[ He does consider that last part for a beat, before saying anything. ] Some. I can't disagree there.

he looks thoughtful]
.... there might still be a way to catch people who use the healing pod thing - but it depends on how long they used it, and what they used it for. I think it's been tested a couple of times now. But so far I haven't heard of what we should be looking for.
Yeah. Some. Just in the realm of 'could you still hurt somebody with your injuries' and - for a couple, I feel like the answer's no. But we can still look them over.

[he just nods]
They can heal injuries, for a certain cost depending on what it was and how long the person was in it.

I haven't, either. I knew what the pods did from listening to enough people talk about it, and observing them, but I wasn't aware that there was anything after the fact we should be looking for.
[ A nod, though! ] Sometimes an injured person is more dangerous than one that isn't, but in those cases their injuries are worsened - double checking is usually enough to eliminate them from that, and, honestly, why put forth the extra effort to kill someone in this place when you're already hurting?

If an injury looks several days old, it could still be suspect if someone does not have a proper alibi for them.
